VERVE is producing a series of short videos that explores the lives and work of scientists. Each episode will focus on one scientist and takes a look into their lives and work, revealing the driving force behind their own search for facts and truths.

In this episode, VERVE spoke to Dr Alexander Franke, a scientist who currently lives in Germany, but who previously worked as a postdoctoral scholar for NC State University in North Carolina. When he’s in the lab he’s putting elements under high heat and pressure to create new materials, but as soon as he’s out of the lab he’s straight into triathlon training. This video was filmed by Greer Arthur and her husband Joe Hawkins, founder of JH Films.
